Most pets are domesticated animals that we Breed to keep in captivity and even change to suit different enviroments. Most dogs could not survive without us! The rest are wild that we like to have around us and need confinement in cages or tanks. Some survive the wild others die!
As every thing on the planet needs food water and a place they can survive in, we are all the same! We even keep plants in our homes and gardens! We just dont call them PETS!

We are part of the animal kingdom as well.
So by your definition a pet is something that can't look after itself? Okay then - so a two-year-old child is a pet? The eldery in care homes are pets? Besides pets CAN look after themselves - the fact that they can't is because we stick them in cages! If you put your hamster down in a field and walked off, it sure wouldn't run around searching for its wheel.

why did you ask a question, then put an answer under it? Pets are something people have to make themselves feel better. Most people like dogs, because they need that reaction or attention when they get home, like they need to feel loved by someone. I don't know that's just what I think.
