You can. That is a very old-fashioned rule. Labor day signaled the official end of summer for the fashion world and true white white was worn only in the summer. Back then your purse and shoes must match as well. You always changed your purse to match your outfit. No one had just one purse for everyday. These days fashion is more eclectic and more relaxed. Style has become a more personal choice rather than a dictated mandate from designers.

You can do that now. That's an old fashioned rule. They say that white was worn in the summer and that's why you weren't "supposed" to wear it after labor day.

That is lots of BS and a very dated advice.
it is ok to wear white after Labor day.... nice white trousers or slaks with a color sweater for fall.... try winter clothes and mix and matches; white tops with jeans or dark pants, or white bottoms with color tops. the options are endless....

I also agree with Maria* and also after labor day follows a rainy season, and that includes MUD, MUCK, and other nasty dark stuff, and you wouldn't want that on your clothes..so I guess that is another reason why they invented that rule!

That's pretty out of date.
You can wear whatever color you want. Just pay attention to fabrics. Heavier fabrics and winter whites are best.
