The first book is self titled "Artemis Fowl". Are they worth a read? Keep in mind they are mainly written for the "young adult" section(I hate that name myself). It's all about what you're looking for. The character of Artemis seems to be more Anti-hero than hero, and there's a good mix of fantasy(fairies, centaurs, ect)with current day life. I'd suggest picking one up from the library before buying just to see if it suits you.

The Artemis Fowl books are aimed at the young adult but like the Harry Potter books can be read and enjoyed by readers of all ages, they contain( in my opinion)much more humour and a greater range of out of this world characters .I am a very good many years removed from being a young adult and I thouroughly enjoyed the three that I have read

The first book is indeed called "Artemis Fowl". I have read it, and found it to be enjoyable enough, although I didn't like it enough to bother reading any other books in the series. I'm sure I'd read them if I were given them, but I didn't think it was good enough to hunt them down for myself!

The 1st one is just called "Artemis Fowl". I've only read the one, but I plan to read the rest. It is meant for younger adults/pre-teens, but I still enjoyed it. In fact, we read it for my book club and we all liked it! It's a quick read (large print, few pages), and if you like fantasy books, a la Harry Potter, you would probably enjoy it no matter what your age.
Also, at the bottom of the page is a bunch of symbols which, when translated, are another small story.

the first book is Artemis Fowl and it worth reading. Alternatively you could listen to them on CD. So far I have listened to the first three which I have obtained from my local library and they are very good. Reasonably humorous and a bit tongue in cheek.

Acording to my twelve year old brother, "Artemis Fowl is about this genius kid and he discovers fairys and helps them and he helps them after a mishap in their first encounter. Basically thats what its about. Its like action adventure."
I think its more of a Young Adult read, if thats his synopsis.= on Book One

Yup, definately!! I enjoyed them.. yet properly that relies upon on your likes. and age. I study then while i replaced into 11. The characters are all very interesting and when you study a million or 2 books you get very related to them. They tale is genius, speedy paced, and includes subjects like friendship, greed as against being effective and have faith. i found it completely Un-placed-Down-in a position.
