What has the poor orangutang done to deserve living as a pet for you? Please dont be so selfish!
They are adorable thats true, but surely would it not be a better idea and go as a volunteer and help look after them in their own true surroundings, this is actually possible you know, check it out.
Or go get a job at the Monkey Sanctury in Dorset, a WONDERFUL place to visit.

Well lucas, there are a few things to consider. First the orangutans Gestation period is 230 to 250 days. Second orangutans live 40 to 50 years in the wild; 50 to 60 years in captivity. Next a full grown orangutan is 150 to 200 pounds and they are 3 to 5 feet.

you should pick a fab name for him, nothing crap like orangie, or tango...do you live in a big house with large garden? you don't want a big hairy monster sleeping in your bed (lets face it females have to put up with that 90% of the time)
Can you find the food it needs? don't think they eat a lot of pasta or pizza.
think they do come with a manual 'Orangutangs for dummies' best bought on eBay

NO! They are not pets. Last year a CA couple was attacked by 2 chimp. The man was close to death after having his face ripped off, fingers, foot and testicles severed. Doesn't sound like a nice family pet to me. Stick to a dog or cat.

An orangutan could very easily rip your arm off if it got angry.
They eat a vast amount of food a day.
They smell.
They are on the Endangered Animals list, so you would need the appropriate licenses to keep it.
4 reasons not to have one!

Dress up. Maybe get a virtual pet for your computer. Less mess, less smell, less inexplicable violence or death caused by thumping. There's a good Clint Eastwood movie with a Orangutan, Cannonball or somethin. Your a ******* piss head if you think you want a orangutan. Do you have a any sense of habitat or nature. **** it. Get one. I hope it beats the **** out of you.

No!!!!!
1 I doubt you have the expertiese to look after one
2 Could you keep it mentally stimulated
3 They are rare
4 They are much stronger than you
If you really want to look after one, donate to your local zoo
or sign up for some rainforest preservation \ protection scheme
How about a nice kitten!
