Its real enough.....Eventhough there is heated controversy over whether HP Lovecraft had a copy and incorporated it into his stories or someone came up with the idea of 'creating' the book based on Lovecraft's writings is irrelevant. The rituals and the magic work....That's all that matters.

Get a copy for yourself (and I highly recommend the accompanying liturature as well- The Necronomicon Spellbook, The Gates of the Necronomion and The Book of Dead Names: the dark history of the Necronomicon) and you decide after some healthy experimentation.
And to all you "nay-sayers" out there, I ask, if the book is a total fabrication, then WHY is there an entire committie in the Pentagon dedicated to its study?

H.P. Lovecraft wrote a book called The Necronomicon, however, the book is based upon occult non-fiction. Necronomicon, when translated from Greek means, "an image of the law of the dead", in essence a grimorie, or spell book. The Necronomicon, was inspired by the early writings of E.A. Wallis Budge, in The Book of the Dead,. Other references to the works of John Dee, Alister Crowley, famous occultists, can be seen in H.P. Lovecraft's writings. I would recommend it only to those whom fully understand the occult, as it is not something to dabble with.

The necronomicon is a real book. sort of.

The book, as referred to by Lovecraft, does not exist. It was something he allegedly made up, at least, that's what he always claimed.

There have been several books written, using the name Necronomicon, one a alleged compilation of Sumerian stuff, and another a picture book by H.R.Giger (now that was good). I believe thee was a new one just written.

You might find stuff online under that name, things for Chaos magick practitioners, since they like to use the Cthulu stuff from Lovecraft for workings....

But, as far as I know, there is no Necronomicon.

It's a Lovecraft invention; it doesn't and never has existed in tangible form, although some other authors have written their own versions.

Lovecraft himself turned down the offer to actually write it, saying that it had much more power as it was - in the imagination.

I can't give you the title, but I just read a book where they discussed it.

I have never seen a real exorcism, not that I'd want to see one anyway. Have you seen that video on You Tube called "The Real Exorcism Of Emily Rose." They show you pictures of what she really looked like and give you bits of information as to where she was really born. After showing you pictures of what she was like before the exorcism they show you the after pictures then they play the cassette recordings of the exorcism, when she was possessed by the different demons. It sounds eerie.

Yes it's suposidly real. it's a book of the dead, and legend says that it is made from the skin of people.

But I did hear one verrsion that totally made me laugh, the person who wrote the necronomicon, also made the faces of death movies, isn't that just so D^mned funny.

the necronomican is originally written in arabic, and was translated in the early 1900's by lovecraft. The original book was the book of the dead. it is very real.
