Whenever i see an advert for washing powder it says new, improved, better ,enhanced with this that and the other.etc etc,

Does this mean that all washing powders sold up to now have just been junk. and were really useless, Or have they just made a new advert up, used the word new improved etc and really not changed anything at all.
Are the powders really improved. or is it a sales trick??

New and improved is an oxymoron anyway. It's impossible for something to be both. Companies change a small ingredient in something and they'll say it's "New and improved" in an attempt to boost sales. It doesn't always mean it's better, in fact a lot of the time it's worse, or certainly no different. It's my personal belief that it's a big con!

I once queried this with a `well known` soap powder manufacturer, and they told me that their soap powder was and had always been the best it could be in any given year or time.
They had a policy of continued improvement,of their product. So, I guess they improve it, tell you so on the soap box, and continue to tell you until they either use up all the boxes, or really do improve it.

It could be improved in some way, or it could be junk. Marketing is a very important tool for corporations! I think that hot water itself does wonders :-). They have to change something to say that I'd surmise. Maybe they added a new fragrance or changed the color? :-)

it makes me laugh when they say "new" and "improved"

which is it? a whole new product or an improvement of an old one? you cant have something brand new thats been improved as it has to be older to be improved...

ARGH IT HURTS!!!!

but anyone else see where im coming from?

...oh i think its because theyve usually changed the chemicals in it or some components in its make up there fore its seen as being better

New and improved really annoys me too - it's like what you have been using before was rubbish. Sometimes with foods they improve them and I don't like them as much.
