Does it damage a wifes credibility to lie in court about her husband. She said she was never allowed to be alone(like a prisoner) and he abused her. But she went to China with her husband after that, traveled alone in China leaving her husband in her familys house AND RETURNED TO THE HOUSE IN THE USA WITH HER HUSBAND. Why did she return if she was abused, she could have stayed in China? Is her story believable?

The difference is, men who lie in court are impeached, heh, heh.

I have read articles written by judges and lawyers. In one case, during a recess in a divorce case where the wife was testifying, the judge took a break with the lawyers. After while, the judge said, "Well, lets go hear some more perjury." Yet, he did nothing to her though he admitted to the attorneys that she was lying.

Judges and lawyers know women lie in court. I happen to know why they do nothing.

They are sexist. They really think women are weak and inferior and simply can't do any better.

I happen to disagree. If women are treated like men are, and are punished when they lie, they will stop lying. Women are strong, and only lie because they are allowed to lie.

I don't know why women stay in abusive relationships, but they do. I once work wit another attorney that was married to an abusive husband. You would think a powerful litigation attorney would be able to get out of a relationship that, but she didn't.

Her husband eventually beat her so badly that she needed emergency plastic surgery. He spent a number of years in jail for attempted murder.

He might have so much control over her that her story might be credible. You've only posted one side of it, so who knows what a jury might believe? I'm in no position to say that she is lying.

The abuse spouse defense doesn't fly in most situations.

We had a case last month in Michigan, where a man and women went on a horrific murder spree. The woman tried that abused defense, and it only took the jury a few minutes to fry her (guilty).

Women jurors are the harshest critics of that defense.

If your case relies on the abused woman defense, then the defendant is trying for a lighter sentence, not a not guilty judgement.

It is illegal to purger yourself in court (i.e. lie).

Abused women often stay with their abuser because they honestly believe they deserve no better or that they are legally obligated to this person in some way. Abusers are very manipulative and can get a woman to believe what they say. The fact that she did not flee her husband is in no way proof that she is not abused.
