I think if the person is terminally ill and in excruciating pain that they should be allowed to die when they wish. We put animals that are in pain asleep, so why shouldn't people have the same option?

I think that if you know you are terminally ill, you should be allowed to make the choice to end your own life. Many people would not choose to live out the end of their life, sick and in pain, feeling like they are a burden to everyone around them.

However, I think it is something that people should make totally clear to their family/doctors/friends before they get sick so that when the time comes, there is no question that the person's wishes are being followed and that they have made this decision with a clear mind.

People should be allowed to die with dignity.

ok well my opinion is that if a person is termenally ill and want to die it is their choice. however the assistance should come from a doctor and should be witnessed by a lawyer and a nuteral witness so as to be sure it is really the wish of the person to die and they are of sound mind when they make the decision.

the only reason that the goverments of countrys would have a prob with assited suicide is that you cannot prove it 100% so it could be used as a valid exuse to get away with murder, thats y regulations should apply

well I think that assisted suicide is not necessarily a bad thing if the ppl asking are in the right state of mind.
Elderly ppl that have no families left, are chronically sick, and are just all around bad off then yes if it were me I would want to die but wouldn't have the strength to do it my self.

however

If your just depressed but healthy w/ family and friends that love you and your just one of those ppl that think about jumping off buildings then no that is not right and they should ask and seek help in other ways.

I know that if I was in the position of most of those people, then I would want to be able to choose the manner of my passing. Many are coherent and intelligent enough to be able to make that choice. The ones that arent, well it should be the immediate family that has the right to choose, though they should keep in mind the quality of life at that point.

I think if the person is terminally ill, and they're in terrible pain and want to die, then I see no problem with it, we do it all the time with our animals, we put them down because we don't want to see them suffer anymore, and I think that should be the way with people. Why make a person suffer?

If the person is suffering and their condition is untreatable, I believe assisted suicide should be legal. My step mother died a slow painful death and many times I wanted to increase her morphine dose to end her suffering. We treat our pets better than our own kind.

I think if a person is terminally ill than it is ok. We do it to poor helpless animals every day who are not suffering. So why can't I chose to die if I know I won't get any better?? Hope this helps.

I think it should be allowed with counseling to help make the decision. I would rather choose when and how to go then to suffer along until the end.

I am for it. If you want to die, I think it's your right as a human being, as long as you are mentally competent. Especially if you are terminally ill. That's not living, it's existing. Everyone is going to die. I don't like these holier than thou people who claim life is a gift and all that bull. It's my life, it's my decision ! I especially don't like the government, federal or state dictating to me how to live. Now thy're dictating to me how to die? *** them !
