Do you have the money to pursue these things? Maybe, maybe not. The ACLU stands up and helps those who think they have been wronged who may not have the means nor smarts to do it on their own.
They look after civil rights in the constitution just as the NRA rights for 2nd amendment rights. Both are necesary advocates for our constitutional rights.. You may not always like what either does but in general they're good org's to have in place.

Do you have an indepth understanding of constitutional law? Do you think everyone in the country knows exactly what their rights are? Do you think every person has the resources to defend their rights?
The constitution set forth rules for government to function by and for rights of it citizens. You may not believe that people other than you have rights or that these rights are not violated but that is not true. The ACLU is a group that defends the rights of US citizens. It helps make sure the government follows the rules it is supposed to.
What you are proposing is that the ACLU not be around because you don't think you would ever use them. That is a little like saying there should be no hospitals because I feel fine and therefore everyone else must be feeling fine.
I am perfectly happy that the ACLU does its work. I myself do not feel like my rights have been violated but I do see every day where others need help.

You make the mistakes of assuming that people whose rights are violated are always aware of their Constitutional rights and also that such violated persons have the financial wherewithal to successfully prosecute the case.
The existence of courts and laws and police does not prevent gross injustices from occurring. But the existence of non-profit service organizations and consumer advocate organizations and such offer a bit more justice for some.
By the way, anybody that asks a question like this is not likely to accept or appreciate this answer. Liberals are such wise guys!!

Without The ACLU, liberal activists would have to use their own money to sue. With the ACLU, your tax dollars are spent. Pretty good racket if you ask me.

They seem to stick their noses into everything, whether wanted or not. They've changed the traditions of America for the worse. They seem Socialistic, taking from the rich and giving it to the poor. They are against Christian readings or traditions in schools and government even tho always a part of America and our forefathers. They are political activists always trying to influrence government the way they want it.

The ACLU is there to protect the liberties of others if that person feels if their rights have been violated. They are a non-profit, private organization.

In my opinion, I tihnk it is not needed. They seem to cause more trouble than bring peaceful solutions. A lot of special interest groups seem to do that.

Unless you have several million dollars to invest and hire a legal team then no, you probably can't do it for yourself.
