My preference is no. But if they win out the UWV - UL looser on Thursday this week will fall out of the top 8 in the BCS thus allowing Notre Dame in. I am pretty sure they have a special BCS deal that they only need to crack the BCS top 8 to get the bid to one of the BCS bowls.

Holdon for a second, Notre Dame before the season started looked like a good number 2 seat. Don't you remember that Notre Dame came down to just about oh 7 seconds of beating USC last year. By the way USC was in the national championship last year. As a Notre Dame fan, I'd like us not to get a BCS bowl at times because I'd like to see us face a team we can beat. I see where you are coming from, but lets face it. BCS bowls are about making money. Notre Dame will almost gurantee a sold out stadium anywhere they go in the country, hence them getting a BCS bowl. I highly doubt next year Notre Dame will be in the top 25. They will be lucky to get a 6 or 7 win season. Also Notre Dame has had more success then the 1940s. Some guy by the name of Lou Holtz won the national championship in 1988. Notre Dame before has had some slow parts in history, but they'll be back.

Navy? Air Force? Army? North Carolina? Stanford?
Those are 5 impressive wins. Even if they beat USC, at that point USC will have lost to Oregon St and Cal. That doesn't help them very much. Strength of schedule kills them even if they finish with 1 loss. I can think of four 1 loss teams right now that deserve it more then Notre Dame if it comes down to the Ohio St/Michigan winner and a bunch of 1 loss teams. That doesn't even include the loser of that game.

I'm sure if Notre Dame was as popular as Rutgers and Rutgers had Notre Dame's popularity that Rutgers would be in front of Notre Dame.

Will they go? Probably. Should they? No.
I believe the top ten teams are (in no particular order):
Ohio St., Michigan, West Virginia, Texas, Florida, Louisville, USC, Auburn, LSU, Tennessee, and maybe even Boise State.
Any of those teams would out play ND. If the Irish can beat USC then they should go.

Yes, they will end up with one loss and they are too big and popular of a program to keep out of a BCS bowl game.

It's going to be close as they always seem to favor the Irish and a lot will depend on how well they play vs USC! If they win or keep it close probbly so, if not, probably not.

I think if they win out and finish with only 1 loss, then they deserve to play for the title more than an undefeated WV team Schedule!!!!
