There really isn't any etiquete for it. Generally right handed people wear their watches on their left hand and left handed people wear theirs on their right hand. It is uncomfortable to write when you have a watch on the wrist of the hand that is writing and as you use the hand that is dominant for most tasks, it is more likely that the watch will be damaged or get in the way when you're doing things with the domiant hand.
Hope this helps.

Most wear thier watch on the least dominant wrist. If you are right handed, then the left, left handed, the right. The dominant hand does most of the work so if you are swinging a hammer with it you will not risk damaging the workings of your watch. I don't think etiquette is a factor.

The way I learned is that if you are left handed, you wear your watch on the right hand. If you are right handed, you wear your watch on the left hand. SO, if you are writing then you can look at your watch without disrupting your writing hand. I don't think it matters either way for male or female, it's the same.

I've always been a left-wrist-watch-wearer... I agree that it seems to be mostly that way... unless left-handed.
Now the interesting thing is those who wear the watch-face on inner or outer wrist ?? When I'm flying it's inner-wrist, otherwise it's outer wrist !!

everyone is suppose to wear it on your left wrist, but I am left handed so I wear mine on my right wrist.
I don't think it really matters though, just wear it however you want

The general rule for wearing watches is that you wear them on the opposite wrist of your "writing" hand. In this way, you aren't encumbered by them when you are writing or using your "strong" hand.
