This is a good question and being a woman who loves that status, I thought I'd search the web to find that answer before giving my personal two cents. Well, it turns out that the most information on the web has to do with the actual bee that is Queen of her hive. A hive can't get along without a queen bee.

We all know about that. So how does that correlate with society?

Powerful women, for many years have fought to maintain the status of queen bee, a name a man probably termed. This woman had a circle of friends and was admired for her fashion sense, knowledge and expertise in "womanly charm." This is a woman who kept it ALL together. Every woman aspires to that kind of status because she is looked upon with great admiration from others. She is responsible for upholding all that is great in a woman and never allowed to let anyone see her sweat.

Socially, if you are the Queen Bee (similar to a man being the head honcho in charge), you run things, people come to you for answers, and you never let another woman throw you from your throne. It is typical of the real bees hovering in their hives. Everyone takes care of the Queen. She is the most important in the social world where galas are the scene. Movie star queens are a good example, such as Betty Davis, Joan Crawford and so on. Men and fans put these women on a pedastal and dare any woman try to take their place (before death).

A wanna"bee" has all the desire to be in the standing because it is the highest call (unofficially and without compensation except those that put her there and the ones who now envy her).

You see, we're all in hive, following the joys of the Queen Bee, looking after her and making sure she takes care of the hive. That's the buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
