Ok, this is the second time today someone found the need to ask this question. Here's the best answer I've read lately. Now give it a rest and start living instead of asking about it.

"Why must life have meaning? Meaning is a purely human value, and does not exist independently in nature. Asking what is the meaning of life assumes that there _is_ some meaning, but there is nothing at all to indicate that that is anything more than wishful thinking.

As meaning is a human value though, there is a nice upside to that. It means that you, as a member of the human race, get to find or create your own meaning.

So while the question "What is the meaning of life" has no answer, there is an answer to the question "What is the meaning of YOUR life?" And the answer to that is, whatever you want it to be!

The problem with people is that they want to know something thats way above themselves. To find out the meaning of life, you must start low. Simply put... first find out how air was made, why the trees leak out co2 for humans, why the waves never pass the beach , because of the sand? yea, then why are there trillions of sands at that particular spot? Why is the moon right where we need it for the waves not to over flood the earth, why does the earth have gravity , to keep us down right? now the question you need to ask is was gravity an accident? Why are birds who can fly have hollowed bones...? all these seem like an accident? doesn't it seem like a perfect design, how every little thing interlocks with human life... Now you ask the meaning of life. i feel as though you don't know your place, how insiginficant you are... stare at the sky one day , and honestly say to yourself, am I even worth having a meaning?

To answer that question, we have to first examine what makes something meaningful. If you asked, what is the meaning of going to school, someone would probably answer : to gain an education so that you can pursue a career. School is the means to an end: career. What is the meaning of life? If life is to have a meaning, it must lead to an end. There would be no meaning to life if everything disappears one day with no remnants of its existance. Therefore, life is meaningless to someone that does not believe in a purpose beyond this lifetime, an end that is eternal.
