Is she a grandmother; more importantly is she YOUR grandmother? Grandma is usually reserved for women who have children who have children and Grandmothers are normally called Grandma by the children of thier children, not by their mutual freinds. I am 47, unmarried, no children, have a body better than most 20 year olds, 20 years of higher education, refused to marry just any man because I was desparate for a free ride in life and put off having children because I wanted to be well educated and able to afford children when I had them. If anybody called me grandma I would slap them. I refuse to have anything to do with divorced (or married) men with children either and fully expect to find an attractive intelligent man without children to start a tiny highly successful family in the future. I tolerate no stigmas attached to my age; have worked hard and long for a good life which I fully intend to have no matter how many ignorant, especially younger people decide that anyone over 40 belongs in a waste bin. My life is only half over and I intend to live the rest of it fully. That being said, you might try the name her mother gave to her. Believe it or not she had a mother once just like you.

How about using her real name? It might work since that's the name she was given at birth.

Mimi is always a good one. My cousins call theirs Mimi because she is pretty young too. It doesn't make it sound as old as grandma or granny.
