such as road runner,bugs bunny,they often use stuff made by ACME,you know the stuff i mean,bombs,mallets,dynamite etc.what does ACME stand for,any ideas.

Good question. I've always wonderd that. Acorrding to this link it's an accepted name to use for any ficticious company the same as using 'John Doe' to name an unidentified body. I have seen it used in something other than the Warner Bros cartoons too but I can't for the life of me think where.

If you do a google search typing in Cartoons; ACME, several sites pop up including pictures of ACME products used in the cartoons.

I think it could mean Accidental C***y Mechanical Equipment. Not sure. I just thought that up cos most of the acme stuff the characters use fail them.

Acme doesn't stand for anything, it's a Greek word meaning "the peak of the mountain" - in other words, absolutely tops.

Its a product of that cartoon I guess, but IU looked it up, it said in the dictionary that it means Highest Point or the climax to something.
