I have a model kit of an airplane that's about 90 percent complete. I have not worked on it in over a year. I broke it out today cause I plan to finish it soon, and discovered a major part is missing. Without the part the kit is basically ruined. Who can I call that might be able to find me this part at a low cost???

I would contact the manufacturer of the model kit and see if they can send you a new sprue. Some model companies will send replacement sprues free of charge if a part was missing, but since you've had the kit open for a while, they may charge you for the replacement. Otherwise, they may send you a replacement model kit - but not all model kiit companies have the same customer service policies, so you may be stuck having to buy another copy of the model for the missing part.

I've found that the between the cost of replacement parts, plus postage, plus the time waiting to get it, it's sometimes cheaper just to buy another kit.

Any hobby or craft store usually caries replacement parts pretty cheap that fit any and all model kits. They are usually universal pieces. Also, you can sometimes go online and find them through hobby and craft stores. If this doesn't work, you can try the manufacture, but i doubt you'll have to do that. I'm pretty sure you'll find one.

I agree with Mogul_X. It's time to email (or call) the manufacturer !! I've also had to wait months for parts to arrive from Testors, Tamiya, and others...

I've NEVER had a hobby-shop who has a "stock" of spare parts... much less anything for FREE !!

The other option is alittle scratchbuilding... depends on how complicated your "major" part is.
