10. Say My Name by Sick Puppies (cover of the 2000 Destiny's Child hit done by an independent Australian rock band sung in the completely wrong attitude--HILARIOUS! Their bass player is a killer string ripper. http://www.myspace.com/sickpuppies to check out their latest songs, but I'm afraid this version Say My Name has become quite rare even in Australia these days)
9. Waking Up by 10 Years ("are you there? can you hear me? are you there? can you feel me waking up? good morning to you my dear life. are you there? can you feel me waking up? enduring my biggest fears now")
8. Crucify by Tori Amos, piano solo (very honest song addressing religious hypocrisy. reminds me of what Johnny Rzeznik's [of Goo Goo Dolls] dad used to tell him: don't let the church screw up your relationship with God. GOOD ADVICE)
7. Children Don't Stop Dancing by Creed (beautiful song about not giving up and retaining childlike innocence)
6. Tonight, Tonight by Smashing Pumpkins (listen to it yourself and you'll see why)
5. Across The Night by silverchair (hello? this band is a legend! this song spells musical perfection in every way--great love song with an edge)
4. Teenager of the Year by Lo-Tel (An Australian rock song for the movie Looking for Alibrandi. I'm not crazy about the band Lo-Tel, but this song evokes precious memories of my high-school days in Australia bearing the teenage pride)
3. Children and Kings by Michael Gungor (one of the best Christian worship leaders out there--this song is so simple and yet so touching... the guitar is absolutely gorgeous)
2. Breathe In Now by george (the best Australian band there is out there: alternative rock meets jazz and classical music. this is a reflective song about leaving the past and embracing the future--A MUST HEAR FOR TRUE MUSIC AFICIONADOS! check it out at http://www.myspace.com/georgetheband )
1. 23 by Jimmy Eat World (a positive song about growing up--I totally adore how the song is so tranquil and contemplative and yet how it's completely rock and audibly very beautiful. listen toit with your eyes closed: an absolute treat for your ears and mind)
