You should go visit for a few days before you uproot yourself from one place.
You'll be getting out of snow for the winter, which is fantastic, but, you might not like the southwestern lifestyle.
You should visit first. If you can't visit, go find some newspapers, and television news channels for the city you plan to relocate to online and read them and watch the news reports for the city for a few weeks. You will get a little flavor of what you're moving into.

Chicago is better for job advancement, one of the best world-wide. I have lived in Chicago, and now live in Tucson. I don't plan on being here long-but it is not a job relevant decision. (the move) If that doesn't answer your question, then I didn't have enough information. Is your job tansfer extremely filled with promise? , etc But there is my two cents.

DON'T DO IT!!!! and that other girl that said she was gon move from chi-town to Texas... that's madness. I live in Texas and I've been to Arizona and the weather in both these places is terrible. It's hot as hell, literally. And it's humid all the time. It's horrible weather. It makes you not even wanna leave the house. You want good weather move to California. I would love to move from Texas to Chicago...

I don't blame you. I am thinking of moving from Chicago to Texas. I'm sick of Chicago weather! I love the city, but can't take the cold any more. If you can manage to get by (job, family, etc) I say go for it!

Only if you love the heat. I think it's an awesome idea. Real estate in AZ is so cheap right now. I don't really know much about Chicago, but I know AZ and it is a very fun place.

I've been to AZ and the climate is a lot different. But if your transfer is worth the move then go for it. you will learn to like where you are living . I moved from Indiana to Fl . and the climate is the same as AZ. I love it because of no snow or ice...

I think this would depend on what you're really looking for. If you are just looking for better weather then go for it. Just remember, you're going to be leaving a place that you're familiar with and going to the unknown. You'll have to leave behind friends and possible family that you've grown accustomed to seeing regularly. Moving just for a change in the weather wouldn't be reason enough to make me move.

Arizona is culturally different from Chicago.
You have to put your needs in perspective ... do you like theater and liberal politics, and museums and arts ... or do you prefer warmer weather and a slightly more laid-back lifestyle?
