To earn money for fulfilling the needs of you and your family.I think this is the real answer,otherwise people may say other things,by adopting dual standards.

I disagree with everyone above, I used to think that a Job was to get by, I realised a Job is the way that you can save some money to start something that will earn you money without you working any more. Pension is the simplest example. I am talking about starting a Business! What I used to do is work, and get paid. then Buy and sell on eBay! I know that this sounds farfetched, But I was re investing my earnings and doubling my salary. I am now able to work part time and Just sell on eBay!!
When I have enough from selling on eBay I will start a larger business etc. Think big people!!

I believe that it is very important for an individual to be involved with other people, to be "employed" at something. This keeps the mind sharp and the creative juices flowing. That doesn't necessarily mean a JOB.
The only reason for a JOB is to make money to do the above. To have a family - to eat - to have a roof over your head - to be able to afford toothpaste, deodorent, clothes (even the cheapest cost something). Have you ever been without any of those things? Apparently you haven't or you wouldn't have asked the question.

the main objective
is to earn a living
become quite responsible and stand on own legs
there are wants and these are unlimited to satisfy or meet the wants you look out for ends that is means to achieve wants
by working you can do this
this is end and want relationship you have to have money for your basic things you need to survive
like
food
water
clothing
shelter and education
nothing is free in this world

Well every body said money so far, undoubtly its a big reason, but satisfaction is also a big fact, many times a person leave job 4 a lesser paying one because he is not satisfied...
To summarize, we do job 4 -
1 - Earn money(enough is writtn)
2 - To satisfy own specialized skills
3 - To Gain social position and acceptability

This will help to keep your creativity going. By doing jobs after jobs you may realise your mission in this life though 90% never come to achive this.It could be possible with your serch to find out what for you are in this world. It comes to reality by karma only. So get cracking!

I guess we are all born to do a job it might be a job as CEO or a Homemaker.At the end i feel its all about Satisfaction.If you are not Happy at the End of the Day its ALL Meaningless.
