Can I fit coil overs from a newer civic in a 1980 civic? also, Would I be able to fit Vtec without doing major changes in there? and GSR or LS vtec would it fit? if I change to vtec, can I leave the original tranny in the Vtec (its a 5 spd). Lots of questions sorry, this is a project I have.

Idk about coilovers but i doubt although some mid 90 honda's have interchangeable springs, just different spring rates. And if you wanted to put a Vtec engine in there you would need a hefty amount of money.

You would need custom motor mounts, axles, wiring, engine, vtec ecu. You would also need to address clearance issues.

I know a guy who has a h22 swapped 88 prelude and has to drop his engine in order to change his timing belt, rubs against the radius rod, crank pulley hits chassis, and bottoms out frequently.

And you would need a new fuel system/lines since you would be going from carb-FI. Dont be surprised in spending more than $8k for everything.

And to the person above, unless you made a typo, i dont believe you. Only because there were no del sols made in 89'. They were made from 93-97.

Sorry, yet I trust the others. eastern automobiles are not often collectible, the in basic terms exceptions being the Datsun Z sequence, Mazda RX7, and the Toyota Landcruiser. The old Civic with the 1300 became not a good engine or automobile. They rusted so quick because they used foam between fender and body, and it absorbed moisture particularly of protecting it out. The crank became not rebuildable, so the engine became disposable. neither is a 33 year old automobile trivial to maintain. Water has to condense contained in the gas tank, parts will be not accessible, and all the plastic will be brittle and shrunken. it could be good for taking to shows, yet in basic terms quite. I even ought to trust the others that $500 is about all it really is worth. i do not care about or believe the miles both.

Coils wont fit, neither will any newer suspension. And yea...you can fit a GSR/VTEC if you want to replace the mounts/wire harness/fuel system.
