Tenant has refused to pay since April. I applied for his removal. Now I've been told I have to pay more and fill out more applications for his removal after the courts told me I was done last time. I can't afford the new fees or for a lawyer to help me with the applications. Are there resources in Long Island?

If you are unable to do it yourself, you will have to hire a lawyer. The court is not there to give you legal advice. They can give general information only, and they cannot advise you as to what you should or should not do.

Are you on disability or some other source of severely limited income that would make you eligible for free legal services?

A house on Long Island is a significant asset. You could open a line of credit and take out some cash to pay for your legal fees.

Take your paperwork to the police and ask them to evict the person. If you don't finish up, that person will be in your home forever.
