Strange that people that are in and have been to Iraq see it far different that people here sitting in their lazy-boys. The men and women that have been there tell of a thankful people and want the US to stay until the job is done. They see schools built Kids seeing doctors for the first time. Yes the is some problems but men and WOMEN voted for the first time even if they have to run from gun fire. The men and women that have been there tell of press that work all day to find the one person that will say US GO HOME. I just find it strange.

In no way will te two side be friends. If the Ottmans could not keep them from killing each other in the 1800s how can we. I just want the press to give me the truth not the filtered lies.

I agree! I'm a veteran that lives in Columbus, GA, right next to Ft. Benning. I know soldiers that come home from Iraq with pictures of smiling kids with soccer shoes and balls donated by the locals here, passed along by G.I.s, and they play on fields the soldiers helped build IN THEIR SPARE TIME WHILE THERE!!! There is a lot of good going on there in Iraq that is worthwhile!
Granted, there are some difficulties. We underestimated the sectarian hatred between the Sunnis and the Shiites and the terrorists use this to their advantage by stirring fights between them! But we need to stay the course and help these people obtain the democracy and civil liberties than many of us take for granted here in our own country.

I don't find it strange. We are sitting here in our lazy-boys and only hearing what the media wants us too. Our troops live side by side with the enemy and see the pain and troubles these people endure on a day to day basics. They see children suffer, men and women who can't feed or take care of there families, starvation and depression that we can't even imagine.
Who doesn't want a better life, even if it's just a home out of the ghettos, food on the table or general medical care. I can sympathize with the Iraq's but I still think we need to let them do there own battle, we've been there long enough. It's time for there own people to stand up, take accountability for there own and let us support them only on the side lines until they have a strong government and army of there own.

well... the trick seems to be the sunni triangle... I think that's what it's called...
basically, if you talk to someone that served outside of the triangle.. .it's all roses and daises... but if you talk to someone that served in the triangle... it's usually a pretty tough story...
Iraq is a big place.. and in many places things are going well... but in some places, it seems to be quite a nightmare..
I mean they aren't making up the daily body counts (you could discuss some of the overall body counts)... but, people aren't dying because they are having too much fun...

Unfortunately it is strange. In America, we hear about rolling blackouts there and how horrible it must be to be without electricity. In Iraq, they are getting electricity in areas that never had it before and are pluging in more and more electronic devices (thanks to a booming economy) that strain an electrical system that just can improve fast enough. A good problem to have, if one has to have a power problem.

They ALL say that? You know for absolute certain? You have personally interviewed every single person that has served? I didn't think so!! I'm sure the 300,000 dead Iraqis would have a very different story to tell.

I agree with you, the media seems to want to spreads all the doom and glum it can about the economy, the war, the jobless rates, etc. The saddest part is that 70% of the people who listen to that crap believe it, I find that very disturbing.
