Sweetheart ...I don't know where you are getting your information but 45% of Americans are not Mexican immigrants. Now I happen to be a Californian born & raised and still live here today and maybe THIS state has percentages closer to your question's estimate but as far as the rest of the US is concerned, 45% mexican/latino immigrants population, just isnt true. So if your question was a roundabout way of saying that American is nothing more than an expansion of Mexico, I believe you are sadly mistaken. Now as far a a definition of American Culture ...it is not something that needs to be a comparative of any ONE previous and or existing culture, race , place or ethnicity and I believe that because the country is yet such a young one (approx 250 years old) I think that we should hurry up and wait and let future generations tell the tale.

I think in America its hard to define our culture because we differ so much. For example in mexico most of the population is catholic. You will find neighbor after neighbor being catholic. Most mexcicans eat tacos. I would guess 99%. So you could base your mexican culture on the majority. But in the US its hard because we all differ from the next person. We are a very diverse country. One neighbor is catholic, the next is pentocostal. I dont eat pizza but my husband does. See what i mean. Another exp. In mexico there are many things that a woman could do and be considered an outsider like get a divorce, which makes the divorce rate in the mexican culture very low. Now in America we are more free 50% divorce and 50% stay together. Its very hard to say about US. Now if you needed to describe the culture i would go with the majority of the people. I would explain that America is a very diverse culture. Women are very liberal. explain the religion of the majority......etc. If you wanted to explain the culture including the illegal immigrants. You could explain it by saying that US is a very free-open door country. Welfare to all, believe in multiplying the world even though we cant afford to do so. Values are few other than having tacos everynight and big get-to-gethers when the food stamps come in....Can i have 10 points please???

Our nation and even our speech is influenced by the different cultures of people who have come here to make this country their home. Even the food they eat and the clothes they wear are an influence.
