I think most people here are just making un educated guesses. The ancient egyptians have no relation to modern day egyptians. Ancient egyptians have african heritage s they were black/brown, this is obvious from sculptures of them, they have predominantly black/brown features. Todays egyptians are Arabs, since they invaded the country.
And just to clear some things up that others have mentioned in this question. Most ancient greeks were mediteranean looking, not blonde and blue eyed, although there were a few of course. Cleopatra was not black or brown, she was Greek, since she was an ancestor to one of Alexander the Greats generals (Ptolemy) so she was white/mediteranean looking.

Well, it depends on who you ask. Currently, the African races claim that Egyptians (at least the ancient ones) were predominantly black. Many of the unearthed Egyptian tombs have art and headpieces which indicate that there was at least some inter-racial mixing. I have heard recently though that the Egyptians of today claim that they are Arabic-Middle-Eastern and are not of African racial heritage. However, this last sentence is hearsay only-so I am not sure. I do agree with the other answers to this question that they were probably very dark in skin color as in 'brown' and/or bordering on black.

An interesting question and one that has been hijacked by racial politics. The reality is that the Ancient Egyptians were in fact a mixture of different races. Early in their history they were almost certainly black, but later Dynasties such as the one that included Cleopatra were white. She was descended from the Greek Ptolemaic dynasty that originated with one of Alexander the Great's generals.

Does it matter? Get hung up on colour today if you must, but leave the ancients out of it. Rumour has it they were a lighter shade of pale. Probably from Greece at a time when the Greeks had blue eyes and blond hair. The Pharaohs had Nubian slaves, who were probably dark skinned.

I would imagine much the same as Egyptians are now as the climate hasn't changed that much, although they would also have had interbreeding with slaves, foreign visitors, invaders or traders so much the same as anywhere in the world today.
