I'm with you! I want to put it up NOW! I do a LOT of decorating for Christmas and I want to start now! Maybe save the live tree for around Thanksgiving time. I usually have 4 or 5 Christmas trees throughout the house! It's my FAVORITE time of year!

Based on the Puerto Rican tradition you begin to decorate your house and put the Christmas's tree the same day of Thanksgiving when you finish your meal. And you know the whole family is around to help and criticize, you get the idea. But just to let you know I have a neighbor that put his Christmas decorations before Halloween. So I think you are not to early.

After Thanksgiving, before christmas. If you buy into the day after thanksgiving where all the stores are filled with mad shoppers, you can have your tree up shortly thereafter to put the gifts under. Keep it up until January 1 and then take it down. Its nice ot come home from work and plug it in and see the lights as the evening gets dark.

I agree with your husband totally. (sorry) he is so right on this one. Halloween is barely over, and we should be thinking about Thanksgiving, not Christmas. They should be two separate Holidays. People these days are wanting to make Christmas sooner and sooner, but I like putting up my tree AFTER Thanksgiving. Makes Thanksgiving that much more special. Doesn't make it seem like Christmas too..

The Friday after Thanksgiving the Mrs. the little ones and I go to a tree farm and cut one down. Decorate it when we get it home. It comes down first thing on 12/26.
We take it down so soon for two reasons:
1. First, after being up for most of a month, it's still green, but very dry.
2. Taking it down and packing up all the Christmas stuff immediately helps cure the post-holiday letdown like you wouldn't believe.

My family always set it up the weekend after Thanksgiving around the time the holiday shopping season starts. Any earlier than that I think is too early. Maybe you should suggest you husband do the decorations this year if your too busy.

The day after Thanksgiving. I would agree that it's too early - you'll be tired of it by the time Christmas comes. Schedule a day in now for later November/early December that's strictly a decorating day. If you have in penciled in you can't make any other plans that day.

I usually do it the day after Thanksgiving...I think now is a bit too early b/c Thanksgiving still needs it's time to shine too...or maybe you could put it up without turning on the lights, etc.

It is a little early, but whatever works for you. We usually out it up the week after Thansgiving and take it down sometime before Easter (it depends on how long we want to see it). Somedays I'll just put some Christmas decorations up just bnecause they're colourful and shiny. Have a good Holiday.

Thanksgiving Day. It is our family tradition. Everyone helps put the tree up after dinner. That way grandparents get to see the grandkids decorating the tree. It is a lot of fun. After the tree is up then we have our desserts.
