He was SO great in so many different films...it's a hard question to answer.
I guess I'd have to put "Spartacus" at the top of the list. The combination of Douglas and director Stanley Kubrick produced tremendous results (they had earlier collaborated on the excellent "Paths of Glory").
Here's one from off the beaten path: "Seven Days in May," co-starring Burt Lancaster.

The Final Countdown with Martin Sheen. Awesome story & Kirk had a chance to make use of his sense of humor in this one. It's hard to locate the movie these days, but it's well worth it!!
