It's only depressing because they have nothing to talk about & make "breaking news" out of garbage. We're numb to the world news, because all of that junk has been going on so long, and it's not surprising anymore.

yesss, thats why i dont bother to see it / read it, unless its the weather or checking that the trains and buses are running on time. Besides that its depressing. They don't take much notice of all of the good things that occurred in the day, but list down all the bad ones and reinforce celebrity gossip. I simply call it " bad news " because they dont share the news in general, just the bad parts of it. I live in nyc by the way

Not the station I watch. They try to keep things local and interesting in a positive way. I think most US news stations do not give enough info on the rest of the planet.

YES !! That's why when I get up in the morning, I watch the traffic and weather segments only, then turn it off. Sometimes I'll just get my info from the computer.

nO, OUR LOCAL NEWS IS clueless and just reports straight offa police blotter. I notice I see a lot of people I know getting shot.,

That's because you actually relate to it. A bomb killing 30 people in Iraq would resonate a little harder with you if you knew someone who lived on the street where it happened.

I don't think it's more depressing. I think it's just more noticed because it's hitting so much closer to home.

Yes! Especially since just within the past week, my city St.Louis was crowned as the highest crime city in the US!

Yes... Its the normal attraction u have and the eager to know more of "local" flavour than that of "global" flavour...
