Not trying to be rude but I'm an intelligent woman and I'm sure you are also and we never needed to crawl to understand something right? I'm actually a semester away from graduating with a BS in Math and I've never crawled in class!!LOL

You know..each child is so different. I mean it. AND some studies are so often off point until it's not even funny. Each year if you notice there's always something different concerning the same study.
My son learned to walk at 7 months old, never really crawled nor did any of my kids. My second daughter begin to walk around 9 months. My son walked 2 months earlier than my daughter. My last child begin to walk when she was a over a year. To say the least, my daughters out perform their brother in school. AND my son walked a lot earlier than both of the girls.
All my kids are very smart, very gifted but you have to understand that each child is so different, just can't compare them. They all begin to learn and progress in their own way when they are ready. Also, you may want to consider this or anyone reading this. Our last child, the one that walked later nearly at 13-14 months. It was a result of her ears, my daughter had reoccurring ear infections, and begin to talk later as well because of this. Once the tubes were inserted in her ears, the adenoids and tonsils were removed, she shot off like a rocket. My baby is now 4 years old and out performing all the kids in her classroom. Consider your options and do the research for yourself, be persistent.

I dont know where they got that information but i know for a fact that just because a baby doesn't crawl that they have learning disabilities isn't true! A baby will walk or crawl when they are good and ready and if that means that they dont want to crawl at all so be it. Everyone learns and grows at their own pace and that includes infants.

I heard that on the radio like a month back. And yeah, I think that it is dumb. But I also understand it's concept. Like they always say, you need to learn to walk before you can run. The same goes with crawling. A baby needs to get those muscels strong enough to walk. And so what if the baby walks and only crawls a little bit. My 10 month old has been crawling for a good two months and he stood up before he could crawl. ( But I want him to walk now. haha)

I've never heard that b/f and I have to agree with you on the fact that it is a bunch of garbage!! Every baby does things at their own pace.. it has nothing to do with learning disabilities...

One of my daughters and my son both walked early (10 months). My son NEVER crawled. They are both exceptionally bright children. My daughter is a member of the national honor society and maintains an A average in school.
You are correct - that statement is garbage.

Hello,
Yeah, I do not believe this theory at all. My 2nd cousin began walking at 4 months and she is a sophomore in high school now and very smart.
I think this is just a scare tactic used by those in the medical community to 'make' parents teach their babies to crawl before they walk.
I can tell you that crawling is good because it does strengthen a babies back muscles, arms and legs.
Hope this helps you......................... :-)

my daughter never crawled she just shimmied herself by pulling into the carpet and I asked the doctor why and he said that she is too heavy to hold herself in a crawling position and them she walked at 10 mos. I think that she is very bright.

BALONEY--I AGREE.
SOME CHILDREN JUST WALK AT 7 MONTHS AND DON'T EVER GET INTO CRAWLING...
SOME CHILDREN CRAWL BACKWARDS NEVER FORWARD--DOES THAT MEAN THEIR BRAIN IS BACKWARD?
YOU CAN TAKE ALL THE SO CALLED "EX"PERTS AND THROW THEIR BOOKS AND KNOWLEDGE IN THE TRASH,
A MOTHER RAISES THE CHILDREN DOESN'T NEED A BOOK.
AND THE ONLY ONES I KNOW WHO EVER READ A BOOK ON CHILD CARE WAS IN THE MEDICAL FIELD.
AFTER THAT FIRST CHILD--YOU NEVER HEARD OF "THE BOOK SAYS" EVER MENTIONED AGAIN>

I don't think that infants who learn to walk sooner and that don't crawl aren't any smarter than infants who don't, but I don't think that means they have a learning disability.
