Find something that brings you joy & persue it. There must be something out there that makes you happy.
In the mean time, tell your counselor how you feel. You may need to go on medication. There are also other alternatives such as herbal remedies, meditation, prayer, diet changes, exercise.
You might need to go to group therapy or increase your visits to your couselor.
You may feel like a failure, but you're not. Life is ajourney. Even if you're 85 years old, ther's still time to find happiness, find your purpose and make a difference.

What do you enjoy doing? What makes you laugh? What makes you smile? Can you walk on your own? Can you talk? Obvious you can THINK, spell & type? You are not on a respirator. You have access to a computer, so maybe you're not destitute. You woke up this morning-and so many people did not. You are BLESSED! Write down something that you enjoy. Share it with someone else - perhaps a child! Your purpose may be to bring joy to others. Can you visit a nursing home & make someone smile who hasn't had a visitor in years! That's an awsome purpose! Can you buy a pair of shoes for a kid who is being teased at school? Can you plant flowers in the yard of someone who's not physically able to do it? You can bring joy to others.

I doubt very much that you have failed at everything you set out to do. That is highly unlikely. I'm surprised that your counselor hasn't suggested that you go to a doctor to see if you have a hormone imbalance or a psychiatrist for antidepressants. If you are not feeling any better after working with this counselor, get a new one. Psychotherapists use different techniques and what works for one person may not work for another. But more than likely you probably need some medication.

I have had the same problem. What helps is knowing that I have value apart from what I do. I believe that God values me and everyone else just as a person. I still get depressed, but I've learned to wait it out like the flu. It took me a very long time for me to feel good for the first time after suffering trauma as I grew up. I believed that there was no hope at one time. Try to remember that you are valuable just as a person, not because of what you do. I know this sounds corny and simplistic, but it's true.

You need to find a purpose....YOU have a purpose, you just don't know what it is. Some people live to see you fail, you have just to WANT to succeed, otherwise, you won't make it...I feel your pain
Always remember this: when the door closes, open the windows

You need to help other people somehow, volunteer for a charity, go to an old folks home and help them there or go to a nearby hospital and rock the new borns. That's when you find fullfillment in life, when you help and give to others.

I lie on the floor face up and cry until my tears dry up. then I get up and eat something and take a nap. I like to listen to upbeat music too and rock in a chair with march music. it helps a bit.
stolling in woods can help. if sunny day but not too hot.
Get some of those dollar coins at bank and give them away to homeless one at a time. it feels good.
see a funny movie.
