"You know, education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don't, you get stuck in Iraq."

- John Kerry, in a 10/31/2006 speech for California gubernatorial candidate Phil Angelides

No wonder he's known in his own neighborhood as The Moron from Massachusetts (or, at other times, The Junior Permanent Senator from Massachusetts).

Some of you geniuses seem to think that not getting a college education equates to going to Iraq.

Do you actually believe this or are you among the dazed and confused and worthy of our sympathy?

Kerry`s statements just prove the how the Democrats are uninformed and have true contempt for the Military. As do the postings here by liberals.

1.The Military is better educated than the general population.
2.The Military is all volunteer.
3. One can not join without a minimum of a high school degree.
4. 73.3 percent of the Enlisted Military have some college, 16.2 percent have an associate’s degree or equivalent semester hours, and 4.7 have a bachelor’s degree. 85 percent of officers have advanced degrees – 70.7 percent have master’s degrees, 12.1 percent have professional degrees and 2.5 percent have doctorate degrees.
5. Dropouts can not get in the Military. They have to go to Mc Donalds.
6. Bush out performed with better grades Kerry in the same school and Bush went further.
7. There is no draft that takes underachieving kids out of school and sends them to war, that was the Vietnam war.
8. Kerry was talking to students about education.

So Kerry`s joke doesn`t fit and he was stating what he believed about a Military he has contempt for. The "Joke" was damage control for the gullible. Look at how they defend the Kerry instead of the military he defamed.

Senator McCain wants an apology too.

If you tried to obtain the facts rather than just accusing others of being morons, Google reduced standards for army recruits and you find more articles that you can read like the following:

"The Center has compiled a list of these initiatives, which include higher cash Bonuses, a variety of Benefits and Incentives, innovative (and potentially questionable) Recruiting Strategies, Lowered Standards for recruit educational achievement, age limits and personal conduct, expanded Recruiting Resources, and increased Recruiting Irregularities."

Educate yourself before you judge the intelligence of others.

All I heard Kerry say was that Iraq is a bad place to wind up. If you disagree maybe you should vacation there.

Librals just want to collect their money (that they didn't work for) and make sure at the end of the day they can smoke their drugs and lie without realizing how stupid they sound

He happens to be right but judging from some of your other questions you're too myopically partisan to even consider the possibility.

One thing, liberals do not see what is wrong with what he said. It is just how they think of any one in the military and always have. They cheer his brave speech.
