How many people out in yahoo answers land and in the real world are tired of seeing people especially boys with pants that are halfway down their legs? The mayor of Detroit is trying to outlaw this, and though I do not agree with this approach something has to be done. Isn't is common courtesy to tell these individuals to pull up their pants so the world will not have to see their underwear. I do not mean to cause contraversy, but I have noticed this trend through the years and I am not pleased by it. Comments are greatly wlecomed and apreciated.

I agree with you, but as long as some creepy hip hop or rap star is wearing baggy pants or any other trendy mode of dress, our children are going to try and look and act like them....Back in the 50's a lot of the boys wanted to look like James Dean or Elvis Presley, Girls wanted to look like the female stars of the era..But I am as sick of being in public places and looking at some kid's underwear as you are, but fads come and go. hopefully this one will go soon...

I'm glad to see that there is a Baggy Pants ban. I don't think it's a punishment, I think the people wearing their pants baggy are idiots first off and should know better and know how to wear clothes. They don't have to be banned, all they have to do is pull up the damn pants if they want to go somewhere. Because I think it looks simply retarded watching someone with their asses hanging out of their pants. I don't see baggy pants as a "black cultural" aspect, I hope no one else sees it that way either. If it's made to look like they are trying to do it out of racial spite, then I think that should be looked at and they should be fixed. I no doubt agree that there should be rules regarding female clothing too, because I find chicks going out in public with booty shorts that look like draws to be ridiculous, then you get these tops that look like bras. That's completely inappropriate and they need to fix that fast. If the people wearing these clothes had any common sense and dressed appropriately, then there would be no way for the law to gain money.

This started in the prisons. It was a way for the prisoners to identify wheither some young boy was already spoken for by another inmate.

I believe that we should do what ever is neccessary to have people gee...i don't know ...pull up their pants. To me it is extremely disrespectful to have your pants to your knees in public. Pants are meant to be worn, not hanging on your knees. That is common sense. Which this country lacks. Obviously.

Just remember that fad started in men's prisons... so laugh it off and realize that these men don't understand why they're exposing themselves, historically speaking.

It's very tacky and looks terrible. They think it makes them cool, but really, they look like a bunch of thugs!
