My turtle's shell is starting to crack.

If the turtle shell looks normal (nice curve shape and smooth not pointing) all is well and you will not need to put anything on the shell. The cracking may just the turtle gowing and new shell coming in....Like snakes turtles do shed. BUT....if you see points (which is called Pyramiding) than you are feeding the turtle to much...slow down on the protein. If the shell is soft and leathery (and you do not have a shoft shell turtle) than you need to feed it some calcium. If the shell is brittle than there is some cream you can buy at PETCO or PetSmart to help....but if you just feed them right and give them the proper vitamins it will fine.

If your turtle's cares are good, the shell will take care of itself. 'Cracking' can be a sign of normal shedding, an injury, or a care problem.

your turtle itself will protect its shell.like our nails.so dont worry about that.
