I want to go to Vegas between December 15-24. Is this a good idea? How crowded will it be? How cold will it be?

If you could move your trip up a few days you could save a lot of money, and avoid the huge crowds that come on the weekend before Christmas...The absolute slowest time of the year in Las Vegas is after the National Finals Rodeo(NFR) which ends the 9th this year, up until that weekend before Christmas...I go to LV every year during December, to take advantage of the bargain hotel rates..This year the best rates are from the 10th until the 22nd...

The weather can get cold that time of the year, but usually during our stay(2 weeks) you catch some days that are "shorts" weather..LV is not crowded at all those 12 days, of course you can find a crowd if you're really looking for one, and the weekend of the 15th and 16th things will pick up, but, overall it's very slow that time of the year...

check these sites for room rates.

this site is a great one for LV info>hotels/gambling/activities/free shows/best deals/etc.

The Orleans has really great rates for the days you plan to be in LV...IMHO the Orleans is the best value in LV, nice place/great rooms/one of the best buffets in LV/nice selection of restaurants/some of the best "meal deals" in LV, nice heated pool...And! the Orleans will "price match" any online rate you find...I found a $23 rate a while back and we will be staying there for 9 nights(out of 14 /we're at Main St Station and the LV Hilton the other 5), and yes it was $23 even for the weekend of the 15th-16th...The last time I looked on travel worm the rates were a little higher...

You should be able to find some great rates for December, just to help you out a little>Luxor has a special rate of $59 during much of your stay(Sun/Thur), you will need the promotion code>(PDNY1)

Weather wise, December temp. averages are:

AVG High: 57°F AVG Low: 37°F AVG Mean: 47°F AVG Precip: 0.40 in.

Record High: 91°F (1910) Record Low: 11°F (1990)
Remember, the desert is pretty cold in the winter. Cold and windy, so plan accordingly. It can be hot in the sun, but cools quickly when the sun goes away.

Otherwise, It's always a good idea to go to Vegas.

Yes it is always crowded here! December is a good time to get good rates on rooms though. Watch your travel dates, flying on Christmas eve can come with a higher airfare price tag-ouch!
Start checking for rooms now, they will book up around holidays much faster. Look for rooms that are off the strip and get a rental car. It will be cheaper. Try some websites like www.vegas.com, www.lasvegas.com, and www.cheapovegas.com to check out off strip hotels.
Weather will be pleasant during the day with jeans and a long sleeve shirt or sweater. After sundown you will want a warm jacket, it's cool and breezy during the winter months.

Vegas is always crowded. The hotel pools will probably be closed. It will be cold, probably like 50 during the day and even colder at night.

Very good idea. Always used to come here then before move. Not crowded. Can be nippy at night but no 1 should find it cold.

There's a good chance it will be pretty crowded. Families are on vacation (kids out of school and hotels and casinos will have special rates).

Also, there will probably be a lot of people there waiting for New Years.

Weatherwise, it will be sweater-weather or maybe jacket weather. Also, it will be very crowded with the holiday season and various casinos having promotions. Families with kids on winter breaks may be visiting during this time as well
