yes. it starts charging as soon as you plug it in via USB on computer. You can update your ipod at the same time as playing music and charging ipod. Hope that helps.

I've got a 3rd gen iPod and can charge and playback at the same time.

yea jst plug it into the computer and u can play it while it charges or if you have an ipod station it charges it while you play lol.
