I'm angry, but honestly not that surprised. It's about what I would expect from Kerry- not only that he has such little respect for the men and women fighting in Iraq, but that he would use them as the butt of a joke to score points with an audience.
I'm especially outraged because of the foolishness of his "joke." I took several semesters off to serve in Iraq, and graduated with honors when I returned. I've worked hard all my life. And many of the ENLISTED men I served with were more intelligent, better educated, and harder working than I was.
What DOES surprise me are the number of liberals, especially liberal "veterans", who seem to want to rationalize of justify Kerry's "joke." Are they really so partisan that they can't rightfully condemn Kerry, just because he is a major figure in the Democratic party?
How shameful.

Navy veteran 1982-1993 active 2000-2003 reserves.
I have this much respect for him () because he is a veteran.
His actions after he got home from Viet Nam, his words and attitudeds during his presidential campaign and his recent derrogatorry remarks about our troops on active duty are all despicable, and there is no way for him to apologize now. The damage is done. He should be required to resign. Kerry's statements were far worse than the emails that Foley wrote, but did not act upon. You could say that Kerry molested our soldiers around the world, and for that he deserves to be jobless.

Well I slacked off in high school and the military was the best option. I certainly wasn't going to be accepted into any 4 year university. I took on two years of service and earned the army college fund. Then I went back and went to junior college and then to a 4 year university to earn a degree.
If I had been a stand out student in high school I may not have gone to the Army.
If we look at it realisitically there are many that the military is one of the best options because they screwed up in school. That is simply the truth. I think the problem with the general statement is that a significant % of the military personnel want to be in the military even though they could have been college students.
Overall I don't see it as offensive at all. There is some truth to it.

I`m Pissed! 1966 - 1991 US Army, INSCOM, ASA, Long Lines
Kerry`s statements just prove the how the Democrats are uninformed and have true contempt for the Military.
1.The Military is better educated than the general population.
2.The Military is all volunteer.
3. One can not join without a minimum of a high school degree.
4. 73.3 percent of the Enlisted Military have some college, 16.2 percent have an associate’s degree or equivalent semester hours, and 4.7 have a bachelor’s degree. 85 percent of officers have advanced degrees – 70.7 percent have master’s degrees, 12.1 percent have professional degrees and 2.5 percent have doctorate degrees.
5. Dropouts can not get in the Military. They have to go to Mc Donalds.
6. Bush out performed with better grades Kerry in the same school and Bush went further.
7. There is no draft that takes underachieving kids out of school and sends them to war, that was the Vietnam war.
8. Kerry was talking to students about education.
So Kerry`s joke doesn`t fit and he was stating what he believed about a Military he has contempt for. The "Joke" was damage control for the gullible.
Senator McCain wants an apology too.

I've been Wiccan for 23 years and by no means heard of any person naming a wand. So very nearly, in view that that is your possess factor that feels correct to you, title it what feels correct to you. Insulting wand-naming isn't insulting Wicca-- considering wand-naming isn't aspect of Wicca. Much of Wicca is not constantly Witchcraft-- it does not have got to incorporate Witchcraft in any respect. You would have got to maintain finding out on that, considering your assertion is simply fallacious.

Oh, so now veterans are the only ones who get to have an opinion? The ones getting paid? Thje ones who are supposed to remain in the ranks, apolitical? How about this...even though I pay for this war, and so do the rest of us who are going broke, not getting rich off of it, and I let you have your way. Listen to Kerry, he is a vet. Or do you only want to listen to vets who agree with you?

I am a veteran (101st ABN for Persian gulf, TF 160 '92-95) My wife is a veteran (101st for desert storm, Mogadishu with the 1st MEF '92 and Baghdad '04-05)
We are both appalled at this affront to our intelligence and to that of our friends both enlisted and officers. Considering the same liberals would fight tooth and nail for an appointment to one of the service academies as it would guarantee them a better salary it proves how they lack serious ethics and morals.
