The ODPEM,Office of Disaster preparedness and Emergency Management is a Government agency which is responsible for preparing the island for any natural disaster.Eg;(Weather),hurricanes, earthquakes, droughts, and etc.

Its information can be gatherd from both local weather stations or in case of a hurricane,it can be source from international,eg;The National meteorological service in Florida, USA.

Its tools can be from rain gauges, satellite imagrey , radars ,to thermometers,to seismographs( located at Mona,University of the West indies, campus), for earthquakes, and aircraft for weather, and etc.
However in terms of bringing the information to the television as how it is presented in the united states,Jamaica is far behind.so the Techno use is not as develop as in the USA, but, a few of the latest, would be there.
