Congress misused Mahatma Gandhi's name to come to power and continue in power for 47 years continuously and even later. JP an ardent Gandhian opposed it and for the first time got them unseated in 1976 by uniting the democratic forces. The appeasement policy of the minorities and the caste based politics have actually ruined the country which is the sole creation of the Congress party. To-day, the family rule is also a Congress culture which goes counter to the basic norms of democratic culture. The country's unity and integrity is in jeopardy mainly due to the selfish political game played by the Congress and the Leftist front.

Today's generation most often does not know what it is talking about. When you say Congress, which Congress are you referring to? If it is the Congress of Mahatma Gandhi, Nehru and Sardar Patel, it won us our Independence and put us firmly on the track of a modern liberal democracy apart from ensuring that the industrial base of the nation was concreted. If we are talking about the Indira Congress, it had its good points and its bad points. While it led to the schlerosis of the government machinery, it is also true she won us the Bnagladesh war. If we are talking about the Congress of today it must be remembered that next only to Pandit Nehru we have today the best Prime Minister in the history of this country along with the best Finance Minister in today's India, supported by the best Defence Minister and the best Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission. We had nothing comparable either in the Morarji Desai Janata regime or the NDA government. About the Gujral, Deve gowda, VP Singh, Charan Singh and Chandrasekhar governments the less said the better. Thank your stars we have todays leaders. Blaming the Congress for all the ills of the nation is the knee jerk reaction of the BJP/Shiv Sena/Hindutva types. They have not studied either the history or the economics of this nation over the last sixty years. Read and learn. And only then form opinions, preferably tentative ones, subject to change like mine.

No party/person has the powers to ruin any nation.
We are above par with the nations that got freedom a decade ago than us. Corruption is deeply rooted in our country - RTI Act has been enforced by the govt, We have unemployment problem in rural areas - Employment Guarantee Scheme is implemented by govt, People live in slums - Low cost houses are being provided & a lot more.
But, what have we done? For getting a job done in govt. offices, rationing offices, RTO's, passport offices, etc we approach agents.Have we ever done our work that involves visit to a govt. office without going to an agent or without bribing someone. We are the ones who are corrupting the officers. The roads are in a bad state - Have we stopped spitting on the road, throwing papers, chocolate wrappers, tickets, etc on the road.
We blame the municipal corp. is not doing anything - are we making written complaints & do we have the courage to make them act.
All we want to do is shout that we are having problems, an X party has ruined the country, govt. is not working, country is divided, etc.

Democracy in a truest sense will flourish only when rules as given below are enacted.
1. No Party should exist for more than 15 years. By doing this corruption will not get deep rooted in the society, party will not behave like established organisation whose ideals cannot be changed so easily. Rather political party should behave like temporarily elected representative who can be recalled if not found suitable by the people, By this way we can ensure all the people in the country will have equal right and take part in the government. If required we can reduce the duration to 10 years.
See gandhi family rules our country for morethan 60 years . So is it really a Democracy or Kingdom? Or else we can follow USA as Example .Only 2 parties like Democrat, and Republican should be there and the people will keep on change and we can restrict the number of terms particular person will be in the office;and should not be like karunanidhi of Tamilnadu who continues 5th or 6 th term and not ready to giveup his post till death.
2. We should encourage young and talented people to be our representative, and not for the too old people who hear using hearing aid in the parliament. We need young dynamic leaders.
Let old people take rest in their home.
3. Now answering your question whether congress ruined our nation. If you allow a party to exist for more than 60 years what will happen? Will they change themselves anything.
Now People are very much aware about the present politics and they dont vote any party to become majority one for the last 15 years. Parties joint small small parties together and rule the country with coalition government. So our constitution allows unscruplous politicians to get together to make big gang and rule the country even if majority of the people dont like a particular party.
So now the need of the hour is revamp and form a new ideology, frame new constitution which reflect the collective conscience of people of today in all respects.
When something seriously is wrong which encourages corruption in the conceptual level we can not blame congress for that.

No second thoughts about your comment.
In spite of ruling for more than 60% of the years since independence, Congress has further divided the nation on religion, castes and language...It has made the corruption to occupy a respectable seat..It has allowed terrorists to freely do their work in any part of the countries, in the name of not antagonising the minority community......for the same reason, has withdrawn the POTA, causing the bomb blasts to go up..I don't think there is some thing left for them to do further damage....

Congress has ruined the nation this may be debatable, but who is responsible for this is not debatable. We as public has choosen congress by majority so why cribb. We have always dual nature of character. We just always talk high but in the world we are rated most cheap and corrupt class. We however think world is respecting us and coming to us with great respect. They are just coming to us because we have a huge market for their products.Consider the following facts:
1.India is a country known for copying and cheating. We just compiled the biggest constitution in the world by clubbing the constitutions of various countries in the world. We are yet one of the most corrupt nations.
2.India is only country in the world where the IAS Exam was not permitted in national language even after30 years of independence. And we witnessed numerous Hindi promotion schemes.
3.Even today in many clubs the national dress like Dhoti Kurta or Kurta Paijama is not permitted.
4.There is no social boycott for a person who earn money by illegal means. Besides he is given more respect compared to an honest person.
5.We still have rules from British periods.
6.We have spent so much on missile programmes and successfully test fired so many of these non have actually been incorporated in our defence forces. Reason they are only showpieces and the success is only manipulated and they are not capable of defending us. Sixty years of research and millions of rupees spent but no value addition. This is what we do.
7.China right from the beginning has been stressing on its cottage industry and they have industrial workers even in jail. Hence the per capita income in China is spread out more uniformly than us .
8.We just keep on boasting our past. Let us accept the fact that we just gave zero to the world. Can we boast of any significant discovery/invention other than this.
We have to accept the fact that we are ourselves to be blamed and not the congress or BJP or any other party.

the wrong doings of Congress already ruined it in UP, Bihar, WB. Now it has become begging positions to a single MP party. The UP, Bihar, (the most populated States) JP Movement breed ed politicians like Laloo,Nitish,Mulayam , later political movement leader Kanshiram's Mayavathi have been en-cashed by the misrule of Congress ever since from Independence. In Tamil Nadu, Dravidian Parties already sent the Congress to Dustbin and Congress has to beg for few seats with them. In Karnataka Hegde regime made a very good influence for Janata party. The tiny state Kerala also Communist's strong hold. So right now Congress is in ICU taken care by the few selective anti congress political parties to make a very big base for themselves and finally kick Congress out of Country. This Congress top leaders also know and they want to en cash as much as they can from Congress and finally detach them. Because they are mouth less in front of Sonia. Sonia and their Kids think the magic of Indira Family will work for ever.
