Has anybody worked at McDonald's? I have a bet with a colleague who regularly eats at McDonald's but considers two-day old homamade lasagna as "old" food and refuses to eat it. According to him, McDonald's may not be serving more than a week old frozen food. My thinking is it might be frozen much longer than that.

I meant from the time the animal is slaughtered to the point where the meal is consumed. What would be a typical cycle?

Well My mom worked there. She said the frozen patties been frozen for at least 3 weeks. They're frozen at the Where-house then at the resturant. so total maybe anywhere from 1 month to a year.

Heah i have work at McDonalds in the past for about 3yrs. And to be honest its quite discusting. The meat is frozen for AWHILE. The managers like to rotate the boxes in the freezer but many times the stockers dont go through the hassel so there is always those couple boxes that stay at the bottom for a couple months. but its so gross, it was a BIG shocker to work there... Well Good Luck on your bet...

Now when are you starting the clock? from the time the food is frozen at the meat packaging plant? or from the time it arrives at the McDonald's? All the meat is already frozen when it arrives at the location, since storage space is pretty limited, the turn over of all the meat is pretty quick because they use so much on a daily basis.

They are actually "good" for a few months..BUT..the freezer space is very small...and deliveries come about twice a week...inventory does not stay very long at all...maybe a week or 2.

all stock is rotated in a FIFO maner...first in first out. huge use first stickers are put on cases and stock is rotated before every truck.
