.....while he/she is busy with a project?

This has happened to me three times already this week, I don't mind if it happens occasionally but three times in one week is a bit much and it's still only Wednesday!!!

I'm an assistant and I find that I take over classes almost daily. 99% of the time I take it as time to 'be the teacher' and explore the techniques I've learned in a classroom setting. I know how overworked teachers are, so I normally don't mind lending them a hand if it's a lesson plan that I can manage; however handling a certain person's class every other day so they can make a call, check email, clean their desk, and other mundane tasks does irritate me. At this point I feel the teacher is overstepping the boundary between teacher assitant/teacher. To make matters worse, many children in our program are special needs and the assistants are not given their modifications so I don't know what I'm working with. =/

We have two other assistants in our gym class and we treat them equal. We have over 100 students at a time.We couldn't do it without them !
Take it as a compliment,it shows that that the teacher has the confidence in your abilities !
If your complaining look for other employment !

All the time! I've written the lesson, made the curriculum, and assessed for IEP reviews. Not supposed to, but we've had a few bad ones.

Why don't you look at it as a way for you to grow in your field? i know it can seem and be annoying, but the more you practice the better you will be. It will make you a better teacher in the end. Take a positive approach.

I've taken over the lesson on several occasions, yet when I wanted to add the experience to my resume I was informed that it was not allowed and would cause problems for me if included.

Sorry, I am a teacher answering this question. I find it unacceptable at all that you would be asked to "take over". Ask the teacher if s/he is willing to share a portion of his/ her salary for your services!
Good luck!
