They have to hide their record of incompetence and corruption, so they pick a fight by distorting what Kerry said into some bogus insult of the troops. It is Bush who should apologize to the troops for making them risk their lives for a war fought for lies.

The ones that speak the loudest and angriest are the most desperate to win this election .
I seem to remember that Bush misspoke about something and he was asked to apologize for it ,he said it was , the people who misunderstood what he said and he was not going to apologize to any one ..
Kerry didn't say anything insulting about the troop's , it's all in the way you perceive it . Have you never misspoke about something ? Come on , should we dissect every speech giver in this country at election time ?
If your looking for a reason to jump on an opponent and are desperate enough then no matter what he said you would call him on it .
I don't like Kerry and I think he is a pompous *** , that said , I can't believe he would attack the troops . No , No , No . Pay attention to what is really going on here !!!

First off it is unclear that the comment was directed at the nations youth. It was more likely a comment to politicians that "if you don't study the situation and do your homework, you will be stuck in Iraq"

However, unlike our current commander n chief; Kerry served his country in Vietnam with many young soldiers that had less than a high school education and knows first hand what it is like for them. Scared and really not understanding the reason they are fighting. Having some republican blowhard tell them they are fighting for freedom. As brave and good soldiers they do their job. Most of the soldiers today in Iraq are no different than those of the Vietnam era; yes some whom were reservists before activation are older and educated and may actually have fought in other battles themselves. These men share their battle field together and I'm sure that they are not insulted by Kerry's comments.

Is Kerry the ideal candidate? Was Bush? what is important here is to get the republicans out of office before they can get another puppet to play with!

Kerry can serve as the stooge also as long as we get honest democrats to take the place of Cheeny , Rumsfeld and the rest!

VOTE DEMOCRAT!

Obama and the Dem's are lining up perfect at the back of the Bush bailout of Wall highway. Then there is Obama's financial plan of slicing taxes on the same time as increasing spending and allowing debt to strengthen. it is the Bush administration has been doing. His thought of substitute is to proceed the failed financial coverage of the final 8 years. seem on the communicate how many circumstances did Obama say issues like "we can't have confidence the loose industry to repair all our issues." he's not in choose of yank form capitalism, against a loose industry, and would not have self belief interior the belief of laze fare. He has executed each and every thing different than actual admit that he's a Marxist.

The cost of freedom should not be taken lightly. And if you believe that the comment that Kerry made can be easily overlooked then you and every other empty headed fool that stands for Kerry’s remark should be, … should be … well what can I say? I believe and would take a bullet to defend the freedoms of this country (even for those who defame our rights) so I couldn’t wish harm to you or anyone else because it would go against what this nation stands for (freedom, freedom of speech). But no one should side with those who speak ill of our men/women that fight for our freedoms.

Kerry`s statements just prove the how the Democrats are uninformed and have true contempt for the Military.

1.The Military is better educated than the general population.
2.The Military is all volunteer.
3. One can not join without a minimum of a high school degree.
4. 73.3 percent of the Enlisted Military have some college, 16.2 percent have an associate’s degree or equivalent semester hours, and 4.7 have a bachelor’s degree. 85 percent of officers have advanced degrees – 70.7 percent have master’s degrees, 12.1 percent have professional degrees and 2.5 percent have doctorate degrees.
5. Dropouts can not get in the Military. They have to go to Mc Donalds.
6. Bush out performed with better grades Kerry in the same school and Bush went further.
7. There is no draft that takes underachieving kids out of school and sends them to war, that was the Vietnam war.
8. Kerry was talking to students about education.

So Kerry`s joke doesn`t fit and he was stating what he believed about a Military he has contempt for. The "Joke" was damage control for the gullible.
Senator McCain wants an apology too.

Well, it's the democrats and media that keep Kerrys mishap
going. Tony Snow said, is it too hard to just apologize to
our troops? Even Democrats (Hillary Clinton) are calling his remarks inappropriate. Kerry himself said he does not intend
to apologize as it was a joke about Bush. Duh, I don't think
so. Kerry has belittled
our troops several times before saying we're the problem in
Iraq and we're terrorizing the citizens, and more. The American
Legion is outraged, so don't blame all the opposition on Repub-
licans. Hey, Bush isn't even running for an elected office...he's
still good for 2 more years. (And by the way, Rush Limbaugh
isn"t running for a political office either tho they keep bringing
up his name)>

So the truth is every soldier, sailor, marine, airman and coast guardsman is ignorant? Do you have the courage to tell that to Wesley Clark, a fellow liberal and veteran? How about Colin Powell, John McCain, ben NightHorse Campbell, the Former Democratic representative from Hawaii who lost his arm in WWII fighting for the US, Former GOV and SEN Kerry from NE, a DEM who was awarded the Medal of Honor for service in Viet Nam and how about the courage to walk into any USMC recruiting station today and espouse your opinion about the military being ignorant?

You like all other liberals hide on Yahoo Q & A to voice your mealy mouthe opinions but never provide solutions. Grow a pair or shut the f*** up.

In case nobody here has ever gon through the enlistment process, or know how the process works, it all starts with A.S.V.A.B. scores. The highest scores are heavily recruited first, and then it works downward. THere is a minimum cut off score. Below that the point, the military does not have the resources to educate on that level. No do they have the desire to deal with the unmotivated.
Kerry should have said that the uneducated will end up at some dead end job that even Illegal Mexicans wont do.

Show some honor to those who risk their lives for their country.

G'day Balaam's Donkey,

Thank you for your question.

The fact of the matter is that Kerry made a gaffe. He voted to send troops in harms way in 2002 and he should not have made such a stupid comment. I'm sure that he wishes he hadn't said it.

Irrespective of whether it was the right decision to send troops into Iraq, vital interests in the war on terror are at stake. It would be a huge victory for terrorism and its sponsors if they were to capture Iraq or to spark a civil war there. It would be a huge defeat for America and western democracy which we would all pay the cost for many years to come. Imagine having Al-Quida with oil revenue as the worst outcome. Iraq is a central battle in the war on terror. We cannot afford to lose there.

Regards
