72,000 miles SEEMS to be the suggested value but I would regard this as a guideline only. http://www.l-m.co.uk/fiatservice/stilo.html

In practice if your car is driven hard OR a lot of short journeys OR a lot of stop/start journeys, then I would be inclined to think about a change nearer the 50,000 miles setting.

I think the 36,000 miles service is supposed to include a cambelt check - and certainly I would ask for a check at the next service after that.

If you KNOW the car is driven hard and/or a lot of short journeys, then I would strongly suggest a change at 50,000 or soon after rather than hope for 75,000. there have been more than a few case of belts failing around the 55000-60000 point.

the first thing that you have to understand is all belts wear about the same, so if you have already have changed your alternator belt or it looks worn, then you should change your timingbelt. the second thing you should find out is weather your motor is an interferance motor (that means that if the belt breaks and the valves, some of them will be, are in the open position the pistons will hit them in there uppermost travel up and bend the valves.
fiat was good for making interferiance motors so the belt is very important i would guess around every 60,000 miles

Usually 100k miles but if you look in your handbook it will advise you.
It's worth having it done sooner because if it goes then it can seriously damage your engine
