The easiest way to become a Nascar driver is to find the nearest short track under a Nascar sanction, buy or build a street stock or a 4 cylinder mini-stock, buy your Nascar License, and go racing. Now you are an officially licensed Nascar driver. There are thousands of them all across America. Now, if you want to get into the top three divisions, that will take money, time, talent, money, luck, and a little money. Lots of great short track drivers have awesome careers and never go near a Nascar event.

In order to make it to one of the three major NASCAR Series (Cup, Busch, or Trucks), you need to gain racing experience. One common path for stock cars is to start racing at your local track. You do this while working on your own car so you begin to understand how the mechanics of the car work. As you get better, move up the ranks.

It takes a lot of money and time, but one must have on-track experience in order to make it big time. In some cases, it helps to know people in high places, so networking is important too.
