I've just sliced a cut into one of my nails. They're not long fancy nails and I'm not neurotic about them, don't get me wrong! But the cut is right at the bottom and keeps catching on my clothes. I've tried filing it and smoothing it, and it hasn't had much of an effect. It's a pretty deep 'slice'.
Any ideas people?

As a nail technician i'd advise you to wear a nail strengthener such as diamond nails or hard as nails, all available from boots. keep the nail really short so there is no free edge showing above the finger tip. This will minimise the risk of tearing the nail further. The only way to sort it is to wait on it growing out. Book yourself in for a manicure and while in ask for a gel overlay on that one nail. It will stop it catching, and when the gel comes off it will leave the nail healthy underneath unlike acrylic. Good luck.

Keep it filed down as much as possible, and I'd put some nail glue into and around the slice, then smooth out the glue, so it doesn't catch on anything. Maybe even put a coat of clear polish over that, to protect it.

If you get a small piece of tissue place it over the break and then put clear varnish over it wait for it to dry and do it one more time that should help stop it catching until its grown out. use an orange wood stick to help.

you can buy nail repair kits from chemist - they don't look very good and i think i prefer just covering up with a plaster - not very elegant but practical xx
