well all the answers are correct . But no one mentioned asphalt. About 50% of used oil is used for the making of asphalt. About 40% is used for energy(heat). And the left over is sold to companies that recycle oil. Americas Choice and Cam 2 are the 2 most popular ones that recycle.

They primarly use as heating oil , mostly repair shops do this but there are other uses but its never filtered and reused in cars.
