Is it possible that this can create shyness on some level? A fear of being misunderstood, I mean.

Yes and yes...not so much a fear of being misunderstood, but disappointment in being so.

I don't talk enough to be misunderstood.

So perhaps, my silence is misunderstood.

Maybe people think i'm stupid *gasps*...

Actually, i knew this girl in grade 9 and me and her never used to talk. I was the class loser. So one day we got to talking and she said "wow, i thought you hated me because you never talked to me".

So i guess my silence is indeed misunderstood as something more than what it really is. And what it is, is shyness and my firm stance that i shouldn't speak unless i have something intelligible and coherent to say.

And no, this didn't create shyness in me because it was there to begin with. But with others, i suppose it could. However, if you fear you're being misunderstood, maybe you should just clarify yourself through words and actions. Or think before speaking...

I do see your point. I am misunderstood a lot, and many a time it is not worth explaining it. I leads you down a path to when you ultimately just shut up for a while.

I'm misunderstood but I'm certainly not shy because of it. Just... different. Maybe I could go as far as to say unique?

Yes and Yes. I think the more difficult communication becomes the more you tend to stop communication.
