That is really sweet but i hope you come back to read this for latter go to the store and get Zicam they have many forms of it get the kind that comes on individual spoons you dip the spoon in hot tea that stuff really works. if you take it when you first get symptoms it works a lot better and faster. I love it i use it and i use the spray for the mouth if i use it first day of symptoms i barely get any sicker. The spray and chewables taste nasty but it is worth it.

Add as many veggies, particularly organic, to the soup as you can. Spinach and other leafy green ones. This will give her the minerals she needs. For teas... herbal like chamomile, mint, anything she might like the taste of. Rooibos has a ton of antioxidents. Some green or black tea is healthy too. Maybe a nasal flush for good measure.

FWIW, Theraflu isn't an alternative remedy. :-P

There is a brand of teas called "Traditional Medicinals" that has cold teas. I find it at the health food store. They have a couple of types I like. One is called "Herba Tussin" for coughs and then there is Gypsy Cold Care and Echinace (sp?) Plus that I like to. Good luck!

Chicken broth is good. Use mint leaves and lemon grass, spearmint also works (good for the tummy) and add honey.
Lots of rest. Good luck.
