If you cash a check that bounces, you are responsible to the check cashing place for the funds. It is then your job to go after the person you received the check from.

This is a technique scam artists use. They give you a bad check for more than what they owe you, have you cash the check (not deposit it), then tell you to keep what they owe you, and you give them the difference. Then, when the check bounces, the check cashing place comes after you, and when you go after the scammer, they are long gone.

It is the responsibility of the person who wrote and signed the cheque not the cashing shop. They have not ensured that there are sufficient funds in their account to cover the cheque which they should have.

It is illegal to bounce a cheque so the shop accepts the cheque in good faith. If the cheque bounces it is the responsibility of the account holder to repay the shop.

Let's suppose I write you a cheque and you cash it in a cheque cashing shop. The cheque bounces. The shop will want their money back from you. You will want your money back from me.

I'm fairly certain that if its your bank account and the cheque bounces its your fault as writing cheques in bad faith is (I think) a crime - although not often prosecuted.

Actually its you. When you cash a check at at check cashing place you are saying that the check will be good. The check cashing place will attempt to get the money from the writer of the check but if not they can come back to you for it.

The person who issues the check is responsible. However, if a person passes bad checks, they can also get into trouble.
