I purchased some stock from a company who recently filed chapter 11 (lost some money, but that's another story), but I think they are required to send you or instruct your agent to send you notice of their filing.

I am not sure, I only deal with chapter 7 and 13 bankruptcies.

Bankruptcy is public record, so you can search the website of where there corporate headquarters is for more information. If this is a publicly traded company, you can research their public filings. And if you called them, chances are they would tell you. And you can always search Google for the name fo the company and the word bankruptcy or insolvency.
