The language of instruction has no written form. Gambian Sign Language. The teachers in question know the following languages, Wolof, Mandinka and Fula. English is a third or fourth langauge for them. Now you see the problem?

What about dyslexic teachers?

I like the colored star idea. Seems like it would work.

Numbers are pretty universal and would likely work as well.

Many teachers use a + and check and - symbol to keep track. It works well.

Are you talking just about grades, or other types of record keeping as well?

Um...I suppose you could do the gold star/black mark system. But as a teacher, shouldn't you already be comfortable with the language in which you are teaching?
