Ask them for their phone numbers so you can call their parents. You can also call the cops and they will pick them up and take them home. My guess is the parents are not saying it is ok. It's kids like that will take the fun out of trick or treating. Those are bad little ghosts and goblins. You were too nice, I would've said "beat it!" right away.

The worst we ever had was a big bunch of teens, all with pillowcases for candy, no costumes or even an attempt at a costume. They pretty much blackmailed us into giving candy because they said they'd trash our house if we didn't dish it out. They were so rude! Most of them wouldn't speak, they were all smoking & I'm sure they'd been drinking too. I resented their behavior, but my house was fine the next day. They didn't return this year & we had a lot of little goblins so it was much more fun!!!

Yes, one year we had a trick or treater that showed up at 10:00 o'clock and was almost if not fully grown. We did not mess with him but, just gave him candy and he left. It looked like he was holding something behind his back. It was very weird so we called the cops and told them to check on him. We never heard anything but, again-- it was weird.

My husband passed out candy last night and he told me of something that happened last night that reminded me of what you wrote. He said that a girl came up to the door, on her cell phone--with no costume--and just sort of held the bag out for my husband to put the candy in. He looked at her and said, "Are you serious? Are you even going to say Trick or Treat?" He said she just sort of looked at him funny. He gave her candy, shook his head, and shut the door.
would have told her we were out of candy!

The strangest thing was that kids kept coming to the door after we turned out the porch light. That was rude, to me. Once the light is off, the occupants of that house are no longer participating in trick-or-treat -- or, if the light never goes on that night, they don't want to participate at all.

we had two teen age girls who didn't have on costumes or masks and had a Walmart sack for a trick or treat bag come to our door . . I told them No Costume No Candy . . They got rude and told me " they were too old to wear costumes just hand over the candy" I told them then they are too old to trick or treat and shut the door in their face.

That is strange! And so funny. I had a group of teens one year who came to my door drinking beer and smoking cigarettes. I still gave them candy.

You should have just said 'Sorry, we're busy right now.'
And those guys at the back door would've been shot at my house.

WOW this has never happened to me...but i believe it. Kids these days are out of control....I see it everyday being i am a school bus driver. they just don't care about what can happen to them. parents aren't teaching kids to be weary anymore it seems. also i see that children are left unattended at young ages to do whatever they please. I am not at all surprised that this happend to you. its a shame.
